What is DNA?
The human body consists of trillions of cells. Most of these cells have a nucleus, or center. The nucleus contains Deoxyribonucleic acid molecules, commonly known by its acronym DNA. DNA molecules serve as carriers of genetic information. The genetic information contained in DNA determines all the specific characteristics of a person.
Who needs to get tested?
In a standard DNA paternity test, DNA samples are collected from the mother, the child and the alleged father (called mother, child, and alleged father DNA paternity test)The collection of the mother’s sample is not absolutely necessary for DNA paternity testing; however, the mother’s sample helps to identify in the child those genes that came from the mother and eliminate them from consideration in a paternity test. The laboratory can perform a highly accurate DNA paternity test without the mother’s sample by performing additional DNA analysis (called single parent-child DNA paternity test). This more extensive test will not cost extra.
How are specimens collected?
Specimens are easily obtained from inside the mouth with a cotton swab. We follow strict chain of custody documentation for client identification, specimen collection, and specimen shipment to ensure the DNA paternity test results are admissible by all courts and government agencies.
How certain are the results when the man is not the father?
The DNA test for paternity proves conclusively that the tested man is not the biological father of the child. In such cases, the tested man’s genes do not match the child’s genes on at least three different genes. The probability of paternity is 0% and we are 100% certain that he is not the child’s father.
How certain are the results when the man is the father?
The average probability of paternity for the test is greater than 99.99999% are lab guarantee greater than 99.9% probability of paternity in all tests where the child and the alleged father are tested.
When will the results be available?
In most instances, your test results will be available 2 Business Days after the laboratory has received all samples. Remember, our goal is to provide you with the most accurate DNA test available anywhere, and there are many factors that can impact the timing of test results. Under no circumstances will the laboratory ever sacrifice the quality or accuracy of your test; therefore, we cannot promise a specific completion date. However, you can count on one of the quickest turnaround times anywhere.
Remember, the laboratory will not sacrifice the integrity nor the accuracy of your test just to meet a 48 hour turnaround time.
